O'Brians Irish Pub, Boca Raton

51 S.E. 1st Avenue, Boca Raton 33432

This particular bar in the heart of downtown Boca Raton has no website, but that doesn't mean you should write it off. It's voted as one of the best bars in a place where it seems as if nothing happens. True to it's colors GREEN, O'Brians provides a full bar and a cozy atomosphere.

This isn't the place to come to if your looking to dance the night away, but it is just the right spot for a few beers, a few friends, and a friendly staff.

"All my friends LOVE this bar! O'Brians is FAU's favorite bar! drink deals are always best in town! WE LOVE LIQUOR PITCHER'S!!! Everyone MUST try this bar!!"- Taylor B

Ultimate Hangover Remedies!

Ever wake up after a GREAT night out, and feel like you were hit by a school bus? In my opinion it's likely that you have or will feel like this, at least once in your lifetime. This blog is dedicated to helping you feel better, as quickly as possible! Especially, if you have class or work the next morning.

In case you've been living on Mars, and have no clue what a hangover feels like here are some of the symptoms that show an intense night full of partying! According to MayoClinic hangover symptoms include: fatigue, nausea, headaches, thirst, shakes, chills, red eyes, etc..

According to Lifescript, the top 5 remedies are:
1. Eat: Nothing like Mickey D's, but a well balanced combination of carbs; such as eggs.
2. Have Sex: This releases endorphins, which reduce hangover symptoms. On the plus side you'll burn off a few of last night's liquids.
3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: When drinking alcohol you lose a lot of water, as a result your liver and kidneys can't process the alcohol properly. So sports drinks such as Gatorade or Powerade are your best choices.
4. Painkillers are a MUST: Your typical aspirin such as Tylenol and Ibuprofen can actually make symptoms worse, instead try an aspirin for headaches such as Excedrin; this will limit stomach irritation.
5. SNOOOZE and SLEEP it off: Okay so maybe you can call out of work, and write your a teacher an email saying your not feeling well. In any case, getting rest and allowing your body to recuperate helps for a speedy recovery.

Salsa Dancing at Coco Locos Nightclub, Fort Lauderdale

Dancing with the girls-Spring Break 2010
For all my latin gals/guys Coco Lcos is the place to be on either a Friday or Saturday night.

This high-powered dance club features the best of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Reggaeton. Open from 9pm-4am, or whenever your feet burn from all the dancing.

Warning! It's small, and although the dancefloor is big enough for crazy Salsa spins it can get rather crowded.

Located on a remote road off of State Road 84 (Marina Mile), above a Ramada Inn. Best of all, you don't need to be 21 and over for admission. Ladies and guys 18+ welcome, but if you aren't 21 a cover charge of $10 will be charged. A small price to pay to the party gods I think.

"I went on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised with the club. It has a spacious wooden dance floor. In terms of Salsa dancers, I got to see all levels. most of them danced On1 with about half of them dancing Casion (I even saw a small Rueda forming). However, I beliee you're better off going with your own partner or group of friends."-Florida Clubs-Salsa Power!

Drinks are affordable, and you don't need a hefty wallet in order to have a good time. The prices range from $6-$12, and that's not bad at all. The music alone will intoxicate you!

How to get rid of the creepy guy in your club photos!

Ok so this has happened to me on more than one occasion. Your at the club looking your best, with your girls around you, a drink in your hand, and your camera is ready! SNAP! An instant awesome photo when you glance at your display...or so you thought. Going throught the fun night in pictures the next SOBER morning you realize guys in your photos, you didn't even know were posing with you. What a major picture KILL.

How to get rid of these weirdos? It's simple just before your friend snaps the photo LOOK around! See if anyone unsual is posing behind your girlfriends, tell them nicely to go away. If that doesn't work College Candy, says to be STRAIGHT forward and mean if you must.

Nightclub do's and don'ts

We all need a little help sometimes, even when it comes to composing our perfect outfit for the club. Whether your a guy or a lady, this blog is meant to be used as a guide. With a little help from Club Planet, here are the things that will get you noticed, and of course the no no's of the nightlife.

1. Clothes:
Ladies DO show skin. DON'T show all your "goodies," you don't want to give anyone the wrong impression. A tasteful dress or a pair of shorts that acentuates your best assests. Ladies dresses are the easiest, cheapest, and fasest choice. DON'T be afraid to stand out in leopard or zebra prints (Forever 21), and DO wear undies nobody needs a "Britney" moment.
Guys DO where button-down shirts or collard. This just looks better then shorts or the common basketball jersey. DON'T wear anything that looks like your little sister bedazzled it, this is not the Jersey Shore; you will get laughed at.

2. Shoes:
Ladies sky high heels are a MUST! But DON'T wear stripper heels, I'm sure they hurt and unless you're stripper you could break an ankle. Finding heels that are comfortable yet stylish can be a little hard, but places like Traffic Shoes can get you great heels at a good prices!
Guys Do wear dress shoes, nothing that looks like you belong in a wedding though. DON'T break out the sneakers, yes Jordans are fashionable, but not at a nightclub.

3. Make-up (Ladies):
YES of course make-up is a MUST!! A classic look or smokey eyes can totally draw more attention to you. Ladies DON'T pile the make-up, on the last thing you want to do is look like a birthday cake; even worse here in South Florida the humidity can assist in the melting of your face. DO wear water-proof eyeliner and mascara this will help when you start showing off your dance moves.

4. Purses:
The finishing touches for a night out--Gentlemen DO bring money, there's nothing cute about flirting with a pretty girl and you can't buy her a drink.
Ladies DON'T bring a purse that holds your entire life, it's acceptable when your running around being the busy female you are; but at a night club it just looks bad. Once at the club your going to want to walk around and dance a huge bag won't give you space. DO bring a clutch or a wristlet, something big enough for cash, credit cards, and  lipgloss. Remember girls just because we will get a guy to buy us a drink, doesn't mean you should look like your helpless. Coach wristlet $48-$98.

iL Bacio, Downtown Delray Beach

Venturing up north to Delray Beach will sure bring a smile to all those party-goers who can enjoy a good time, in just a few hours. The strip on Atlantic Avenue host some of the hottest scenes in Delray such as Delux (previous blog); and Delray’s best kept secret il Bacio. Winning a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

iL Bacio is a combination of indoor and outdoor fun. The inside is a smaller area with a dance floor, one bar, and a DJ booth. The outside equipped with a large stage, two bars, and a huge dance floor.

Live Bands Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6-10 High Energy DJs Wed-Sun 10-2.
A happy scene where older meets younger, a gentle mix of college students and middle aged people gather in this restaurant that turns into one large dance floor.

“After 11pm the music really got jamming and the tunes were awesome for the rest of the night. The DJ really knew his stuff!”- YELP

Fun. Energetic. Lively. Dancing. Drinks.-All to what can describe a night at iL Bacio. The downside? $10 for the ladies and $15 for the gents to get through the door. The drinks are some-what overpriced and sometimes can feel like there isn’t enough alcohol. iL Bacio is a place you save up to go, although $40 can guarantee a good time.
It for sure isn’t a place you visit weekly!

Delux Nightclub, Oh what a Night in Delray Beach!

If an intimate club with an outside patio is your scene, then Delux Nightclub is the place for you!
Located just a little north of Boca Raton in Delray Beach, Delux is on Atlantic Avenue in the midsts of other bars and restaurants that turn into party scenes. One room, one DJ, and one bar.

LOVE:
Music, atomosphere, people, ample dance floor, cheap cocktails, and the party starts early!

HATE:
Long waits for cocktails, bathrooms, and a $10 cover charge.

Ending the party at around 1:45 am, the DJ gives last call and pretty much shuts off the music. BOO!

So unlike most clubs located in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Delux provides a change of pace and scene.
On the plus side weekends provide an even more of an escape in the outside patio of Delux.-10 Best

Well Wishing at Wishing Well Irish Pub, Boca Raton!

An Irish Pub in the heart of Boca Raton, the Wishing Well is a great place to drink a few brewskis and listen to the live band on the weekends. A quaint little place with some of the best 25-year olds enjoying each-other's company.

Not much to say about this small spot, except for it hits the spot!
  • Just the place for an after-work drink.
  • Meet some friends.
  • Grab a quick bite.
  • Or lay back and enjoy the live band, and the atomosphere of the Irish!

111 S.E. Mizner Blvd., Boca Raton FL 33432  (561) 750-5208
"Awesome Irish pub in boca raton with darts, pool and live music. Staff is great and the beer selection is even better."-New Times

A tiny hole in the wall bar-Nippers, Boca Raton

Nippers is the only bar in Boca Raton that stays open past two in the morning.
But staying open late doesn't always have its perks. Nippers is a tiny bar on the northern side of Military Trail in Boca. Once inside there's a pool table to right and about six or seven tables to the left. The bar isn't very big, in fact it might be the smallest one I have ever seen. More than likely college students can be loitering this place after all the happening bars in Fort Lauderdale close.

The local drunks might be the biggest turn off, having them spill their drinks and drool over you really doesn't help out the bars rep.

They serve food late too. The usual wings, chicken fingers, and mozzarella sticks. I would much rather go to Denny's. But if your looking for more drinks and a little pool playing after a fun-filled night in Downtown, then Nippers is for you!

Hours:
Monday - Friday
4:00 PM - 5:00 AM
Saturday-Sunday
9:00 PM - 5:00 AM

Porterhouse Bar & Grill

Ah the sickly sight of sunrise creeps up on any regualr Joe looking for a late night or should I say early morning drink.

“If you like bad service and rudeness then you will like this place!”-Trip Advisor

Now, there's no direct link to Porterhouse they don't exactly have a website can't imagne why?
This is the spot to be at about 4:30am, when Fort Lauderdale nightclubs have kicked you to the curb. Oh why does drinking and dancing like a maniac inspire college students to eat or better yet continue the party here; nobody knows. I know for fact: I'm guilty.

Everyone from your dance partner earlier in the evening to your mom's friend can be found loitering the bar for cheap drinks and finger foods. The mozzarella sticks are to die for! The bartender is always willing to make you a drink no matter how late, and the music yea that's good too if you can still manage to hear it. Usually by 5am most drunk college students are tone deaf. Anywho, overall it beats Denny's for that craving you can no longer fight after the club.

Menu: Apps from $5
Drinks from $7
Cheap, cheap, cheap
*The servers usually don't care past a certain point in the night, and mostly they barely make a buck. It's hard to spend more than $20 here, unless your paying for the whole table.*

Boca Raton Resort crew at Kahuna's

Kahuna's can turn into the perfect party as the sun sets on Deerfield Beach. Live music pumps through the speakers and entertains the outside as well as inside. Although, a small bar it makes up for the large amounts of fun you can have!

Dance the night away at JB's On the beach!

There's nothing like drinking cocktails, feeling the ocean breeze, and swaying to the sounds of a live band. A bar is outside and a small dancefloor that gets crowded as people move to the groove.

Looking for just a drink or two and some good music, this is the place to be. Careful, JB's food has a price tag! Some of the best seafood and steak on the beach, but pricey pricey. Apps from $14-20 and entrees from $25; on a budget ome for the live music!

Rock out at American Rock!!

A place for rock, drinks, and food!!! American Rock Bar is the place to be. Centrally located in Deerfield Beach just before the bridge that takes you to the beach.

W stands for Whiskey Blue!

The W hotel hosts more than a regular hotel on the beach does. The best part of this popular South Florida hotel nightclub, is you don't need to be a guest to enjoy the nightlife! Whiskey Blue is one of South Florida's best kept secrets.
"The crowd is always in vogue lounging indoors or relaxing incognito al fresco. Where will you get lucky tonight?"-Whiskey Blue Site
Starring up at the blue lights that hang so close to your head, the DJ spins some of the best music from oldies, classics, and all the new top 40 selling singles. The bar is uniquely in the shape of a horseshoe and is located in front of a mirrored wall. The price tag for a good night at Whiskey Blue? EXPENSIVE.

Club goer BEWARE: Whiskey Blue isn't a large clubs, as most are in South Florida. It can get crowded and fast. It takes time to get a drink, so make sure you are already feeling good when you arrive.

This nightclub is idealistic for celebrating birthdays, because that's the only time you ever save up enough to go. Whiskey Blue provides a South Beach atmosphere in Fort Lauderdale's backyard. The prices, the sophistication, and style of the club screams Miami. Drinks can go from $10 and up, and shots well for two you are looking at $22+ (not including gratuity). The good times at Whiskey Blue makes up for the complete annihilation of your pockets.
Whiskey Blue Fort Lauderdale, January 15th

"Nice decor and good music, just like all Whiskey Blue's. Love the lighting and after a few drinks everyone seems to enjoy themselves. It just takes a bit long to get the drink so come with a buzz if you really want to enjoy yourself."-Adam, YELP! user

Voodoo Lounge, Fort Lauderdale

Okay so like many of the other clubs in my blog, Voodoo Lounge is located in Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale. Their flyers usually say no cover charge, but as soon as you get to the door someone will try and charge you. Not cool! The music can drag sometimes, and many times doesn't really matter the time the club is dead. I don't know where they hide the people, but it sure never looks full.

According to YELP! users:
"Place sucks...dirty empty, and the drinks are expensive...stay away, trust me."-William
"Great music. Crappy bartenders. Interesting clientele."-Monika

Staff is often friendly, but the drinks for the ladies are FREE. And well we all know what happens with free drinks, it's almost always cheap booze! Those little red cups that are filled with "a good time," never means a good morning!

Voodoo Lounge, Fort Lauderdale

* 21 + for guys and gals
*Three cluubs in one.
*State of the art sound systems, that electrify and intensify the music.

Blue Wednesday's at Blue Martini, Boca Raton

Although often a pricey steal! Blue Martini on Wednesday night can make you have the weekly blues. It is by far a great place to be a lady! No cover, walk straight through the lines and half price cocktails all night count me in!
All martinis are half off the normal $12.00 that they charge so at $6.00, a mango martini sounds absolutely re-freshing! But that's not all, all top shelf alcohol like Van-Gogh and Sky, and of course Grey Goose can be half priced as well.
Blue Martini Boca Raton

Party all night to the DJ spinning the best of all the tunes you know. Get there before 11 and a live band gets the party started mixing new and old tunes. The staff is friendly, the party goes all night long, and the prices not always dirt cheap but well worth a good time!
"The mango martinis were delicious.  Went there on a Wednesday night which happened to be Ladies' Night.  Had a good time.  Good mix of old and young, conservative and trashy."-Cynthia on YELP!

An All American-Backyard Party!

The South Florida breeze brushes up against your skin. The smell of the air is one that can be only distinguished by true Floridians. The hot and humid day has turned into a cool night, as you head home from work you can't help but be excited for the night's festivities. There isn't much to your wardrobe, you could go in a bathing suit and still fit in. Everyone loves an all American-backyard party one that include mini shooters, an awesome DJ in a cart, bartenders, and one of the largest outside parties in South Florida.
America's Backyard located in the heart of Downtown, Las Olas offers all of the above.

"Whether you’re in the mood for grillin’ or chillin’, dancin’ or drinkin’ they're ready for you with our never-ending…ever-changing party!"- Night Cure

America's Backyard is open to until 4am as most other nightclubs in the area, but don't be fooled this venue isn't a nightclub. The atomosphere is a completely relaxed one, everyone is there just to have a good time. A beer or drink in hand dancing around the enormous pool in the center. The pool isn't filled with water; but bottles of liquor, crazy bartenders, and the perimiter with dancers. The dancers are not ones hired by America's Backyard, but people just like you and I. Careful gentlemen, bar dancing is only for the ladies. The DJ will cut the music and "boo" you off, the bartenders stop making drink all together and grab a hose to spray you down, but even through the short 1 minute pause the party continues!

There are 2 different areas where you can hang out and have an all American-backyard party.
*Upstairs: With it's seperate VIP tables and high tops. This area has it's own bar, high top tables, and even a hair dresser chair, for thos risky shot takers. If your a bit timid you can people watch from here, while still enjoying thr atomosphere.
*Main party area: Along with the DJ, three bars, and pool. Being in the center of all the action, and if your daring enough ladies getting on the bar for a quick dance.
This is the perfect party for college students, the cover is only $5, but only on selected nights. There are nights when you can get in for ABSOLUTELY nothing. Getting a drink is not something that is a big deal, with plenty of bars and cheap booze. Beers for only $4.50, mixed drinks that range from $6.50 to $15.00, and the tiny "tubby" shooter for only $3.00. Their infamous bucket drinks are the best; mixed alcohol, portable, and super fun to drink. $15.00 and it's good for a good portion of the night, it roughly last about 2 hours.

So whether your in the mood to go casual or dressed up, America's Backyard is just the place for you! An all American-backyard party with some of your closest friends, there's nothing better than that. Every night begining Wednesday (Ladies Nights), there is always something happening here. Weekdays, weekends, and even holidays America's Backyard guarentees a good time!!
"That's when alcohol mixes with dance music, rendering otherwise respectable young professionals helpless and desperate to dance on the bar."- Broward New Times

Rumbass, West Palm Beach

"Why go to bed, when you can have another drink?" as said in a review by Club Planet. Rumbass located in West Palm Beach could quiet possibly be the place to be. Rumbass is 3 clubs in one, a little north but only a short 25 minute drive to West Palm Beach can give you that special edge you are looking for on a Saturday night.
Club 1: Rumbass the main room spins the best of Bachata, Merengue, Salsa, and Reggaeton.
Club 2: Pure Lounge mixes the best of today's top 40 hits. Major singles from Lady Gaga to Flo Rida.
Club 3: CLASH is the third club located towards the back, and drops hip hop and r&b all night.

It's safe to assume that the lines outside of Rumbass are not long at all, but don't let that discourage you the inside is packed. Rumbass caters to all types of people, and Latinos can get the rythym moving that they seek for. It's 18+ for ladies and 21+ for the gentlemen. The cover charge is only $10, which isn't bad at all if you plan to party all night until 5am.

"Of course, this could mean some serious pain the next morning (or, more likely, the next afternoon.) Don’t say we didn’t warn you."-Club Planet

If your looking to test the waters, the live sounds of the club can radiate through your speakers on 92.1fm. As you make your way through the crowded places the main room's dancefloor is massive! With elevated dancefloors for couples to shine and let others see their skills in salsa. Club Pure Lounge is located on the left and intices people with it's large DJ booth and LCD screen TVS. There is bar in every room and the booze, well that's affordable. Beers go for $6.00 and classic mixed drinks for only $8.50. Not too shabby, if your in the Boca Raton area or futher north Rumbass is the place for you!

Flanigans!!

Known for it's famous wings and ribs, Flanigans is also a cheap alternative to "going out to the club scene". So say you've had a long day at school or at work, going go home to get glamed up is one of the lat things on your mind, but you don't exactly want to stay home in bed either.

Flanigans creates an atomosphere that pushes more towards the "homie" side. With some of the best wings in town, located on the corner of Palmetto Park Road and and US1 Flanigans is nestled along side of Mizner Park, but without the "price."

"Guppies" as it is ofeten called in Boca holds some of the best specials. With any pitcher of beer, soda, or lemonade a free basket of their award wining wings! Not to mention 2-for-1 happy hours every night till close. There isn't many places where you can get a Belvedere and cranberry drink for only $3.00!!

Recetly adding flat screen TV's for all the latest games, you can either sit at the bar or in a cozy table. The wings are great, the booze is cheap, and the juke-box machine is always rocking cool tunes. there's nothing wrong with going out to small restaurant/bar instead of the clubs. And at that not having to get dressed is a BONUS!!

Off The Hookah

Beds, cabanas, 2 rooms, shot girls, belly dancers, hookahs, and fancy bartenders. There's no other place like it, Las Olas Riverfront becomes alive in the night time at Off The Hookah!

Located in the heart of Las Olas Riverfront, OTH is for sure the place to be on the weekend. Surrounded by other night clubs, and small bars, and late night pizzerias. OTH has music for all types of people, well only those are that 21 and up. Careful gentlemen dress code is strictly enforced.

Now OTH doesn't charge a cover charge as steeply as some of the other Florida night clubs, and the clubs in Miami are sure to make any bank account go overdrawn. It's only a $5 cover charge for women, and $10 for the gents. But on a Saturday night as a girlfriend I learned you can get in FREE, yes I said FREE by simply standing in the wrong line. Ladies if you do not have an entourage and are just looking for a drink and quick sweat stand in the following line. The line for VIP and table reservations, but heres the trick you have to act like you didn't know that line wasn't sure general admission. The bouncer will ask who's with you when you had him your ID, and to not make a big fuss; or have a longer line he willsimply  let you in. STRESS FREE!

OTH an atomosphere all on it's own, it's hard to not have a good time. The bar stretches throughout the center and has all type of alcohol, and beer! The DJ stands on the right in the back of the building higher than everyone and spinning the hits of today, classic rock, and of course all those oldies people like. They have a projector which plays some of the music videos that is currently playing. On the left hand side are the beds and cabanas for bottle service and all the hookah you like. The room to left hand side is either a Latino room for a Hip-Hop room depending on the night. With 3 bars, go-go dancers pouring shots, and bartenders throwing their shakers in te air. This is the place to be!
